We've now worked our way into the third week of shows for La Llorona. It's a two hour play based on ghost, folk, and real stories. I'm really enjoying the show and we've received good comments and reviews on it. Here are all three reviews (in abc order) that I'm aware of:

It's been an overall good process. We arrived late to the rehearsal due to the mounds of snow that were dumped on DFW in mid February so the first weeks required some catching up but I think we were able to get where we needed to be. I'm disappointed in our low ticket sales as this is a new play by a local playwright but from what I hear about our other shows' audiences, we're selling decently.
I was inspired by Mike Daisey's performance of How Theater Failed America in Dallas last week but I was even more inspired by the DFW turnout and post show conversation. It's nice to see the theater community here merging for change. It's the first time here I've felt the restlessness and frustration that overwhelm me in NYC. It feels like a theater revolution could happen if we keep asking hard questions and facing dire truths!

It pleases me to announce that tomorrow La Llorona opens at the Sanders Theater. Opening night is sold out and the theater doesn't seat but around 80 seats so make a reservation if you'd like to come. This is a publicity shot of my friend Elizabeth Mason who plays my wife in the show.

Back in New York for a week before heading down to Texas to begin rehearsals for Amphibian Stage Productions "La Llorona, A Love Story" by my good friend Kathleen Culebro. I saw a reading of this play 10 years ago and thought it compelling and enchanting, imbued with folklore and superstition. It's a play as beautiful as it is tragic and a story that definitely needs to be told about American imperialism and the sacrifices one makes for love. Kathleen has rewritten parts of it and I'm excited to be working on it with my good friend Elizabeth Mason whom I met at TCU. 6 weeks in Texas!

Merry Christmas! I've just finished "A Christmas Carol" in Fort Worth which turned out to be so much fun. The show yielded some very talented actors and a great time. Pictures have been ordered and perhaps I'll share one on here.
I'm having a hard time updating the website right now so unfortunately I haven't been able to discuss it much but I'll keep forging ahead. Best to you in 2010!

Ok, so I'm on the Cape again, for the summer. We're having a bit too much fun out here, I must admit, but it's not stopping us from doing the nitty-gritty work that we did last year. Our first show "The Bald Soprano" has been such a nice time, that I really don't want it to end.

We've been reviewed by several papers, the most recent of which is the Boston Globe, saying it is "a textbook case of absurdist theater". Here's a link to the Cape Cod Times saying the show is "sparkling, the Bald Soprano truly sings" and the Barnstable Patriot which described it as "modern art in motion".
