Today marks the third day of tech and I must admit, it's looking pretty wonderful. We have a crack design team working with us. Wade Laboissonniere who just designed costumes for "My Life so Far" on Broadway is doing ours as well. Takeshi Kata of "Adding Machine" and "What's that Smell" fame has designed our set. Ryan Rumery, who just assisted our man Ian Rickson in "Hedda Gabler" is designing our sound, and Pat Collins, who's Broadway credits are in the double digits is lighting us. I think we're relatively on schedule although the new theater has slowed us down a bit. It's been filled with new equipment that no one's used before so there are bound to be a few snags.
This is the original John Hay, whom I shall be playing. Isn't he a dapper fellow?

It's Sunday in Washington DC and there are throngs of people walking down the street. I'm very close to the Lincoln memorial and today there is a concert with artists Beyonce, James Taylor,U2, John Legend and others, so it's tempting to make my way down there but I'm called to a rehearsal at 4:15 and I'm a bit worried about getting there on time. You see, 500,000 people are expected to attend the concert, so when I say throngs, I do in fact mean waves and waves of people going down 24th street, which I can see just over my balcony view in Foggy Bottom. Rehearsal for me is just a 30 minute walk but I have to cross in front of the White House grounds, which is bound to be crowded as well. It's a very exciting week in frigid DC!
Here's a pic of Obama in front of Lincoln.

We've successfully blocked the entire show now and we've still got 3 weeks of rehearsal to go! Our director has proved quite the task master as our progress has been steady and the show has really taken shape. I'm eager to see what it looks like with all the acts put together and I think the theater will be given a good early product to regard.
