Spamalot. Tonight. I saw it. I am a changed man. By the grace of God, I scored a ticket on the front row of the new Broadway show titled Spamalot. For those of you who don't know me, I'm a bit of a Monty Python fan and so going to this show was kind of like Christmas. It was great to sit so close to the actors and watch their expressions, their relation to the audience and each other, and know when and to what they are listening. Hank Azaria, David Hyde Pierce, and Tim Curry are three amazing actors I never thought I'd see together on stage and yet, here they are. It's a goofy play. Eric Idle knowingly milked the movie for it's best parts and then added some of the greatest hits from Life of Brian, Flying Circus, not to mention spoofing the entirety of Broadway. Somehow, it all comes together. You feel like you're actually being invaded by a python bizzaro world when you watch this show. Go see it. Christian Borle was the real surprise and excitement for me. His Not Dead Fred and Prince Herbert were right on the money and I bet we'll see more of him in the future.
Eric Idle, you remain my hero.
